The rugged
construction of a GOODMAN Rotary Shear Cutter makes it ideal
for cutting rubber sheet from thin calendered stock to densely
loaded and thick slabs up to 1" (25 mm) thick. At either
extreme of thickness a clean cut is produced. Even on product
that is cut on a PVC liner sheet, both product and the liner
sheet are cleanly cut every time.
For cut lengths
over 30" (760 mm) and cut length/line speed combinations
producing a cutter speed of under 40 cuts per minute, GOODMAN
Rotary Shear Cutters use a pneumatic single-revolution clutch/brake
to actuate the cutter head. This system has a large diameter
flywheel turning continuously at 200 RPM. Product length is measured
by an encoder and measuring wheel riding on the underside of
the in-feed conveyor. Pulses are sent from the encoder to an
electronic preset length counter. When the preset length is reached,
the clutch/brake engages the cutter head to make a single revolution
at the rate of 200 RPM. The clean cut is made in about 0.3 seconds.
For cutting
rates above 40 cuts per minute the cutter head is rotated continuously
by an electronically controlled variable speed drive. Depending
on the cut length accuracy required, we employ one of several
different available drive systems. |
